The former North Woolwich Old Station Museum site has been sold off - to a church and registered charity just over the other side of the River Thames. The grand old building has been standing empty since 2008 and had been severely vandalised and falling into disrepair for many years.

The station was on the old North London line, opening in 1847 as the terminus of the railway with a grand building for the station. However, as the area declined, the station building closed in 1979, to be replaced by a much smaller "shed" next door, while the grand building was turned into a railway museum.

The old station building and down (northern) platform were acquired by the Passmore Edwards Trust and after renovation the Old Station Museum was opened by the Queen Mother in November 1984. The station closed temporarily on 29th May 1994 during the construction of the Jubilee Line (which doesn't serve North Woolwich) reopening on 29.10.1995.

The North Woolwich Old Station Museum was a small railway museum in North Woolwich, in Newham, East London.It was housed in what was the original Great Eastern Railway terminal station building at North Woolwich railway station. The building was in use as a ticket office until 1979 when it was replaced by a more austere building on the one remaining platform.

The Society regrets that the North Woolwich Old Station Museum closed at the end of November 2008. The Museum was originally established by the London Borough of Newham whilst the building was owned by the Passmore Edwards Museum Trust.
