Neofinetia falcata Murasakitaishi ("Against Purple") is a look-alike to Shutennou, the most popular pink-blooming variety of fukiran. Wildly popular in Japan, the Neofinetia Orchid is considered by the Japanese to be the perfect orchid specimen from the flowers to the roots. Serious cultivators will pay upwards of $20,000 to $70,000 for the more rare varieties of this orchid, and in the mid-1990s, they paid upwards of $300,000 for a single orchid plant.

It is also known as the Samurai Orchid, as Shogun Tokugawa Ienari fell in love with the plant in the late 1800's. 1 SincerelySpicy • 1 yr. ago This sort of leaf dehydration can be caused by extended lack of water—2-3+ weeks without enough water, though the leaf loss indicates that it may have been even longer—or if there are insufficient healthy roots. From the sound of it, I'm guessing that it's partly because you don't have very many roots.
